Southport attack victims' medical records 'accessed inappropriately'

Nearly 50 staff members at Aintree Hospital in Liverpool inappropriately accessed the medical records of victims from the Southport knife attack that occurred in July 2024. Among the victims were a 13-year-old girl and teacher Leanne Lucas, who was critically injured. The Chief Executive of the NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group expressed apologies and stated that disciplinary measures would be taken, although no staff members were dismissed.
