US strikes in Iran hit airport, bridges, railway station

The United States carried out new strikes in Iran, hitting Iranshahr airport, Bandar Abbas railway station, and two bridges in Hormozgan province near the Strait of Hormuz. US forces board ship to ensure compliance with Iran blockade

US Marines boarded the oil tanker M/T Wen Yao in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday to ensure compliance with the US naval blockade of Iran, according to CENTCOM. The previous day, a US aircraft disabled an unladen oil tanker trying to break the blockade. The military command also reported redirecting three commercial vessels since the blockade began on Tuesday. A prior blockade from April 13 to June 18 resulted in nine ships disabled and over 140 redirected.

AES Biometric Passport: Tiani, First Nigerien Enrolled in Identity Files

On July 16, 2026, General Abdourahamane Tiani, head of state of Niger, enrolled for the new biometric passport of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), becoming the first Nigerien citizen to obtain this document. This highly secure passport replaces old analog models and is part of the harmonization of identity documents among Niger, Burkina Faso, and Mali, initiated in August 2025. The project involved expertise from Société Al Itsal Aljadid and its local partner Hasdi. The new passport meets ICAO standards and will facilitate international travel for Nigeriens.
