Since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu took office in May 2023, the country has experienced multiple grid collapses, with 12 incidents recorded in 2024. In response to this crisis, the government allocated 10 billion naira in 2025 and an additional 7 billion in 2026 to install a solar mini-grid at the presidential villa, aiming to disconnect from the failing national grid.
