Bauchi WASH stakeholders propose tax on companies to boost water, sanitation funding

Stakeholders in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector in Bauchi State proposed a 'WASH Tax' on companies to enhance funding for water and sanitation services. This proposal was made during the 2026 State WASH Joint Sector Review held from May 12 to 14. Participants also called for the establishment of a WASH Fund and a donor roundtable to mobilize resources. Priority actions agreed upon include increasing budget allocations for the WASH sector and rehabilitating non-functional water schemes.
