Politicians to Pay Up to Ksh500,000 for Campaign Music Under New Tariffs

The Kenyan government has raised music royalty tariffs for politicians, allowing musicians to benefit from increased earnings ahead of the 2027 General Election. Presidential candidates will pay Ksh 500,000, while governors and senators will pay Ksh 200,000 and Ksh 150,000 respectively. The new tariffs, effective from January 2026 to December 2028, aim to ensure fair compensation for artists at political events.
