Kenyan startups rake in Sh524bn funding in five years

Kenyan startups received Sh524.5 billion ($4.2 billion) in private funding over the past five years, accounting for 84% of private capital deals in East Africa. Solar energy-focused d.light was the largest recipient in 2025, raising Sh38.7 billion ($300 million). About 70% of the funding deals were venture capital, highlighting the appeal of the clean technology sector.
