The Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Senegal announced a subsidy of 50 CFA francs per kilogram of local rice, effective from November 12, 2026. This measure aims to support local producers and enhance the competitiveness of national production. Additionally, the government has decided to halt imports of non-aromatic rice, except for 100% broken rice, to protect the national market. Furthermore, priority will be given to local rice in institutional purchases to ensure secure outlets for producers.
