Libya: Tripoli Zoo, a Symbol of a Fragile Return to Normalcy

After 17 years of closure, the Tripoli Zoo has reopened, providing Libyans with a rare moment of respite. Built in 1985, the zoo was closed in 2009 for renovations and suffered heavy losses during the conflicts, with only 700 of the 1,100 animals surviving. The reopening attracted hundreds of visitors, especially during Eid, who rediscovered the animals in the park.
