The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has established a specialized Violent Crime Response Unit across all states in Nigeria, effective May 2, 2026. This initiative aims to enhance rapid response to serious crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, and murder. Existing non-specialized tactical teams will be disbanded and absorbed into this new unit, which will be led by CSP Chris Nwaogbo in Bayelsa State.
