Like Benin, Ghana abolishes visas for Africans starting May 25

Ghana will open its borders to all holders of African passports starting May 25, 2026, following the example of Benin. This decision, announced by President John Dramani Mahama, coincides with Africa Day and abolishes visa requirements for African nationals. Ghana thus becomes the fifth African country to adopt this policy, joining Benin, Rwanda, Gambia, and Seychelles.
