Iran releases on bail Japan national jailed amid antigovernment protests

A Japanese citizen has been released on bail in Iran after being detained since January 20, according to Japan's government spokesperson, Minoru Kihara. The individual, believed to be Shinnosuke Kawashima, the Tehran bureau chief for NHK, was arrested amid antigovernment protests. While he has no health issues, he is not allowed to leave Iran and faces security-related charges.
