UN appoints Eziakonwa special adviser on Africa

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appointed Nigeria's Ahunna Eziakonwa as his special adviser on Africa, succeeding Cristina Duarte of Cabo Verde. Eziakonwa currently serves as UN assistant secretary-general, assistant administrator and director of the Regional Bureau for Africa at UNDP, overseeing support to 46 African countries. She has held senior posts in Ethiopia, Uganda, Lesotho, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.
