The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) sealed 505 illegal and non-compliant medicine outlets in Cross River State during a four-day enforcement operation across 10 local government areas. Of 602 premises inspected, 48.3% were operating outside regulatory requirements. Dr. Suleiman S. Chiroma, speaking on behalf of the PCN Registrar, reported that 291 illegal outlets, 54 pharmacies, and 160 patent medicine stores were sealed. He also cited the recent conviction of Mrs. Ezea Asidora Kamchekwube to eight years' imprisonment for operating two unlicensed medicine shops.
