The BCEAO Announces Major Change for Wave and Orange Money in Senegal

The BCEAO, in its Instruction No. 20 published on October 8, 2026, increased the electronic money holding limit for clients to 4 million FCFA per issuer, up from 2 million. Starting November 2, 2026, this change directly affects Wave and Orange Money in Senegal, with the monthly recharge limit rising from 10 to 15 million FCFA. Customers can request permission to exceed these limits, subject to BCEAO approval. Operators are also required to implement stricter management and control measures for client funds.
