Mbayang Diop Case: Senegalese Civil Society Intensifies Call for Mercy

More than ten years after her imprisonment in Saudi Arabia, Mbayang Diop, sentenced to death for the murder of a Saudi national, continues to mobilize Senegalese civil society. During a press conference in Dakar, Horizons sans Frontières, Afrikajom Center, and Jamra reiterated their call for mercy from Saudi authorities and forgiveness from the victim's family, clarifying that their efforts do not challenge Saudi justice. They also appealed to King Salman to grant clemency to Diop, citing the friendly relations between Senegal and Saudi Arabia, and emphasized the need for increased diplomatic efforts.
