From November 30, 2026, international students will have to show more funds to cover living expenses in the UK. Nigerian students taking a nine-month course in London will need £14,130, up from £13,761; those studying outside London will need £10,827, or £1,203 per month. The maintenance funds are separate from tuition fees and other visa charges. The UK is also proposing a £925 annual levy per international student from 2028, though universities warn that falling international enrolment could undermine the plan.
