Makinde reveals location of Oyo abducted pupils, teachers

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State disclosed that schoolchildren and teachers abducted on May 15, 2026, in Oriire Local Government Area are being held within the Old Oyo National Park. Speaking on June 12, 2026, he said security agencies are working to secure their release in the vast 2,500 sq km park spanning ten local government areas. Makinde urged residents to call the toll-free emergency number 615 with tips and warned against spreading unverified information that could hinder rescue efforts.
