The Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA) is at the center of a scandal involving controversial cash withdrawals totaling K5 billion related to the sale of Amaryllis Hotel, now under parliamentary investigation. FIA head Jean Piriminta was dismissed after leaking CCTV footage showing State House officials withdrawing K1.5 billion. Collins Magalasi, former personal secretary to President Peter Mutharika, oversaw the operation, which involved K3 billion being withdrawn and delivered to the presidency.
