Mali Conflict Enters Dangerous New Phase With Banned Cluster Bombs

For the first time, Mali's army and its Russian allies have used banned cluster bombs in northern Mali during anti-terror operations. Two strikes were documented, one in Oubder and another in Tadjmart. The Collective for the Defence of the Rights of the People of Azawad confirmed the use of these weapons, which pose a danger to civilians due to unexploded bomblets.
