Mali: mandatory motorcycle registration sparks concerns

Since June 15, Malian authorities have made registration mandatory for all motorcycles and tricycles, a measure presented to strengthen security and vehicle control. In Bamako, the reform worries drivers who depend on their two-wheelers for their livelihood, especially motorcycle taxi drivers. Ibrahim Traoré, a motorcycle taxi driver in the Fleuve district, fears the queues and difficulties this will cause for their income.
