Maniema: Ban on land titles in swamps and relocation of flood victims in Kindu

The provincial government of Maniema has banned the issuance of land titles in swampy areas and announced the creation of new housing developments to relocate flood victims in Kindu. These decisions stem from a strategic advocacy note adopted unanimously on June 9, 2026. The plan includes updating the database of households in flood-prone areas, granting property certificates on new sites, and strengthening early warning systems through RVF and METELSAT. Vice-Governor Katisamba Makubuli warned that sanctions would be enforced.
