Marriage Statistics: The Number of Divorces per Month in Dakar Made Public

In Dakar, approximately 400 divorces are pronounced each month, according to data from the Institute for Research and Development and the Association of Women Lawyers of Senegal. Nearly 80% of divorce proceedings are initiated by women, often due to the husband's failure to provide, which accounts for over 50% of cases. Conflicts with in-laws and the deterioration of emotional bonds are also recurring factors contributing to separations.
