A million young people in England, Wales, and Scotland will be offered a meningitis B vaccine following the UK's largest meningitis B outbreak in Kent and two other unusual clusters in Weymouth and Reading. The two-dose vaccine will be available to pupils in their last year of secondary school and 18-25 year olds entering university or residential further education. Aaron Mills, 18, from Kidderminster, died from meningitis in January 2026, and his family highlighted the lack of awareness about different strains.
