Ebola: Traders frustrated after Uganda-DRC border closure

Local traders are suffering heavy losses since Uganda closed its border with the DRC on May 27, 2026, to prevent the spread of Ebola. Ugandan trader Leah Masika watched her plantains rot while waiting for permission to cross the Mpondwe border post. Exceptions granted in the first days for emergencies are insufficient, and goods are piling up on both sides of the border.
