Mohamed Salah to captain Egypt as squad announced for FIFA World Cup 2026

Mohamed Salah will captain the Egyptian national team for the first time at a World Cup. Nantes forward Mostafa Mohamed has been left out of the preliminary squad, while uncapped teenager Hamza Abdelkarim from Barcelona's under-19 team has been included. Egypt will play Brazil in a friendly on June 6 before starting their World Cup campaign against Belgium on June 15 in Seattle.
