2026 World Cup: South Africa loses its first match (2-0) against Mexico

In the opening match of the 2026 World Cup at Estadio Azteca, South Africa lost 2-0 to Mexico. Mexico scored first in the 9th minute through Julian Quinones, then Raul Jimenez made it 2-0 in the 68th minute. The Bafana Bafana finished the game with nine men after red cards to Sithole (50th) and Themba Zwane (84th).
