More UK deaths than births expected every year from now on

According to projections from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the UK is expected to see more deaths than births every year starting in 2026. The population is projected to reach 71 million by 2034, influenced by a decline in migration and fertility rates. Between 2024 and 2034, 6.4 million births and 6.9 million deaths are anticipated, resulting in a deficit of nearly 500,000 people in terms of births.
