Morocco-Syria: Resumption of Diplomatic Relations

Syrian Foreign Minister Assaad al-Chaibani made an official visit to Morocco, marking a new step in diplomatic rapprochement between Rabat and Damascus after more than ten years of rupture. Following his meeting with Nasser Bourita, Syrian authorities announced the upcoming reopening of the Syrian embassy in Morocco. Morocco had closed its embassy in Syria in 2012, at the beginning of the civil war.
