Tanganyika: GLC Cement Workers on Strike in Kabimba

Workers at Great Lac Cement (GLC) in Kabimba have been on strike since last Wednesday, demanding a salary increase after hearing rumors of raises for expatriates. The workers denounce wage discrimination, claiming that expatriates earn significantly higher salaries than Congolese employees. Discussions are ongoing between GLC management and union representatives to resolve the conflict. This strike is part of a series of labor movements affecting the company since November 2025.
