More than 640,000 children targeted by polio vaccination campaign in Equateur

The vice-governor of Equateur province, Thomas Boyenge Ifaso, launched a polio vaccination campaign on June 17 in Mbandaka, targeting nearly 641,000 children under five in the province's 18 health zones. Vaccination teams are going door-to-door to administer four drops of the vaccine. Ten polio cases have been recorded in the DRC since January 2026, nine in Maniema and one in Haut-Lomami, according to the WHO.
