Mexico has filed criminal complaints with US state prosecutors after 17 of its citizens died in ICE custody or during immigration enforcement operations since Donald Trump returned to office in January 2025. Mexico also plans to file a complaint with the US Department of Justice and has asked the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to investigate the deaths.
