Joint Security Coordination for the Peace Agreement between DR Congo and Rwanda

The fifth meeting of the Joint Security Coordination Mechanism (JSCM) was held on July 15-16, 2026 in Geneva, bringing together representatives from DR Congo, Rwanda, the United States, Qatar, Togo (AU mediator), and the African Union Commission. The parties reaffirmed their commitment to implement the Washington Accords, including neutralization of the FDLR and disengagement of forces. They agreed to explore verification mechanisms and received a briefing from MONUSCO on disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration. The parties committed to regular information sharing and will reconvene in the coming weeks.
