Benin: Supreme Court rejects Houndégnon's appeal

Benin's Supreme Court has rejected the cassation appeal of Sessi Louis Philippe Houndégnon, former Director General of the Police, against a decision by the CRIET appellate chamber. The court found the appeals admissible in form but dismissed them on the merits, upholding the jurisdiction of CRIET. Houndégnon, detained since November 2024, faces charges of inciting rebellion and electronic harassment. The case has been ongoing for nearly two years since his arrest in November 2024.
