NGEC Calls for Police Recruitment Overhaul After Pregnant Recruits Dismissal Row

The National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) has called for a complete overhaul of police recruitment and training policies following the dismissal of over 18 pregnant recruits from Kiganjo Training College. NGEC highlighted gaps in the legal and policy framework regarding the handling of pregnancy during recruitment and training, urging a review of recruitment criteria to ensure equality and human dignity. The commission also proposed reforms to enhance transparency in police recruitment processes.
