Anambra Confirms Lassa Fever Case and Activates Emergency Response

Anambra State has confirmed a Lassa fever case involving a patient linked to Omasi in Ayamelum Local Government Area, who is receiving treatment at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. Health Commissioner Dr Afam Obidike said the state had activated an emergency response and Incident Management System, with officials to identify and monitor the patient’s contacts. Authorities urged residents to seek prompt care for persistent fever, avoid relying on self-medication, protect food from rodents and follow infection-prevention guidance.
