Nigeria: after a general, a colonel killed in an attack in Borno

Nigerian army colonel I.A. Muhammad was killed on April 13, 2026, in an attack in Monguno, Borno State, while heading to reinforce a military position. His convoy was targeted by an improvised explosive device, resulting in the deaths of several soldiers as well. This incident comes just days after the death of Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah in an attack in Benisheikh, attributed to fighters from the Islamic State in West Africa (ISWAP).
