The U.S. Embassy in Nigeria has classified 23 regions as areas to avoid for non-essential personnel due to the deteriorating security situation. The states of Plateau, Jigawa, Kwara, Niger, and Taraba have been added to the do-not-travel list, while the entire country remains at level 3. Despite these warnings, the U.S. has increased its military presence, deploying around 200 soldiers to support the Nigerian army in its fight against jihadist groups.
