Nigeria’s oil production: We must do more

Nigeria's crude oil production has slowly rebounded to around 1.66 million barrels per day, but this should not be seen as a major victory. The gains reflect tighter security around oil facilities and the delayed implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act. However, organized oil theft remains a pressing issue, requiring serious prosecution of those behind these operations. To regain investor confidence, the country must improve its operating environment and refining capacity.
