NNPCL, security agencies intensify crackdown on pipeline vandals

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and security agencies have intensified efforts against pipeline vandalism following the discovery of a damaged section of the Nigerian Pipelines and Storage Company (NPSC) crude oil pipeline at Pai Community, Kwali Area Council, Abuja. Three suspects were arrested in a joint operation involving the Office of the National Security Adviser's Special Prosecution Team, the FCT Police Command, and NNPCL's Industry-wide Security Architecture. In 2025, 19 vandalism cases were recorded, leading to the theft of about nine kilometers of pipeline sections. NNPCL Group CEO Bashir Bayo Ojulari stated that the security architecture aims not only to apprehend direct perpetrators but also to identify sponsors and receivers of stolen pipeline materials.
