We drank our urine to survive, Libya returnee recounts desert ordeal

Endurance Daniel, a 23-year-old female Libya returnee, recounted how she and other migrants drank their urine to survive due to lack of water in the desert. She traveled with 52 other migrants in a single vehicle, and seven people died under harsh conditions. Deceived at age 17 by her mother's friend who promised employment in Libya, she discovered upon arrival in 2019 that only domestic work or prostitution were available. She is one of 182 migrants recently assisted to return to Nigeria by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).
