New trial over Maradona's death begins in Argentina

A new trial regarding the death of Argentine football legend Diego Maradona began on Tuesday, a year after the first trial collapsed due to a scandal involving a judge. Maradona died in November 2020 at the age of 60, and his seven-person medical team is accused of homicide with possible intent. The previous trial was annulled in May 2025 after one of the judges was involved in a documentary about the case, leading to her impeachment.
