Federal Government Urges Self-Care to Contain Ebola

Following confirmation of an imported Ebola case in Abuja, Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare Dr Iziaq Salako urged Nigerians to practise hand hygiene, use appropriate disinfection and cooperate with public health officials. He spoke on Tuesday at the inaugural National Self-Care Conference 2026 in Abuja, themed “Self-Care Puts Your Health in Your Hands: Test. Track. Thrive.” Salako said self-care complements professional healthcare and does not absolve the government of providing accessible, quality health services. Presidential Health Adviser Dr Salma Anas also called for effective regulation and quality services to prevent unsafe practices.
