Saudi Arabia Executes Two Bangladeshis; Dhaka Seeks Explanations

Nazrul Islam and Sweety Akhtar, two Bangladeshi nationals, were executed on October 14, 2026, in the Mecca region after being sentenced for acts described as “indecent” in a mosque. Saudi authorities said the sentences had been upheld by the competent courts and carried out by royal order, but did not publicly detail the alleged acts. Dhaka says it received no prior notification and has formally requested explanations from Riyadh.
