Barriers surrounding the Kaaba in Mecca were painted Nigeria’s national colours, green-white-green, in honour of President Bola Tinubu’s visit. Tinubu is in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah and was granted the rare privilege of entering the Kaaba to pray. Umrah is an Islamic rite that includes visiting the Grand Mosque and performing prescribed acts of worship.

Madagascar has added Kenya to the countries facing Ebola-related entry restrictions, following similar measures affecting Uganda, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
