Ivory Coast: Nearly 2,000 billion FCFA in food imports in 2025

Ivory Coast's food imports reached nearly 2,000 billion FCFA in 2025, according to the Ministry of Environment and Ecological Transition. This increase is linked to falling agricultural yields due to land degradation, deforestation, illegal gold mining, and climate change. Nearly a third of the country's regions face food insecurity, and the ministry calls for sustainable land management to achieve land degradation neutrality.
