High Court Rejects Wamatangi's Bid to Stop Ksh813.1 Million EACC Asset Case

The High Court dismissed Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi's attempt to have a Ksh813.1 million asset recovery case filed against him by the EACC struck out. Justice Rose Ougo ruled that Wamatangi failed to prove the case was barred by a separate petition, and rejected his claim that parliamentary privilege protected him, stating it does not cover allegations unrelated to his parliamentary work. The case involves allegations that Wamatangi influenced road tenders between 2018 and 2022 and concealed his interests through transfers to relatives and associates.
