Wolfsburg terminate Christian Eriksen’s football contract by mutual consent

German club VfL Wolfsburg and Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen have agreed to mutually terminate his contract, ending it early before its June 2027 expiry. Eriksen, 34, collapsed during a friendly against Ukraine in June and previously suffered a cardiac arrest at Euro 2021, after which he played with a pacemaker. He joined Wolfsburg as a free agent a year ago, making 34 appearances, scoring three goals, and providing 10 assists. Eriksen stated he would return to Denmark for rehabilitation and expressed satisfaction with the mutual decision.
