Iran: China defies the United States and welcomes an Iranian plane on its soil

An Airbus A340 from Mahan Air landed in Guangzhou, China, from Tehran, despite new U.S. sanctions targeting Iranian air transport. Mahan Air has been under U.S. sanctions since 2011 for its support of the Quds Force. Flight W593, which landed at 08:39 GMT, is part of an ongoing connection between Iran and China, despite increasing pressure from Washington on those providing services to Iranian airlines.
