Oil prices rose by more than 2% as peace talks between the United States and Iran stalled. Brent, the primary benchmark for global prices, stood at $106.99 as of 1:30 GMT. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi left Islamabad for Saint Petersburg, Russia, for talks with President Vladimir Putin, as Tehran's threats against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz paralyze a large portion of the world's oil and natural gas supply.
