Electricity: 3.6 TWh injected in one year by Nachtigal, but Cameroon's grid remains under strain

The Nachtigal hydroelectric plant, fully operational since May 2025, injected 3,613,785 MWh (about 3.6 TWh) into Cameroon's national grid by end of May 2026, according to NHPC. With an installed capacity of 420 MW, it meets nearly 30% of the country's electricity needs and boasts a availability rate above 94%. Despite this production increase, load shedding continues in several cities, highlighting structural limitations of the distribution network.
